Timeline

2007 - 2009

Glacier Media acquired several community newspapers in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

2010 - 2011

Glacier Media acquired several community newspapers in Southern Alberta.

2011

Glacier Media acquired Victoria Times Colonist, the company’s largest publication to date.

2014

A digital client service team is launched to offer digital marketing services. This team will later become the Glacier Media Digital division (GMD).

2016

Glacier’s community media publications served more than 2 million readers in more than 60 different communities across Western Canada.

2017

Glacier acquired Vancouver Is Awesome. Digital operations staff grew by over 200%

2018

Glacier Media established the Local News Network. It now receives over 150 million monthly page views.

2019

Glacier Media acquires Castanet.net, one of Western Canada’s most visited community media websites.

2019

Glacier Media acquired several community newspapers in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

2020

GMD launches Guidedby.ca, a directory site that aims to help online readers discover business in their communities. Glacier Content Studio is launched to support.

2025

Rebranded as Lodestar, integrating our News, Live, Work, and Play pillars into a single, high-impact digital network.
